Eclectic-ware is concerned about the environment as are hundreds of thousands of other companies and hundreds of millions of people. We all need to take steps that are important to
preserving our way of life and to keep ourselves healthy along with the planet. We applaud those who recycle as many products as they can, and we would like to spread the message to others to start
recycling and conserving the best they can.

It looks like a good place to start to learn more about how to recycle, what to recycle, and how to be environmentally friendly. All I did was go to Google and enter "recycling" as my search term. A lot came
up. There is a growing trend in the USA, Canada, and other parts of the world to buy Organic foods and green products. Green products are those that are produced with little to no harm to the Earth, or
made from recycled products. It would seem difficult to be 100% green, but it does not seem out of reach to do whatever you can. Here is what Eclectic-ware does as a company:
We try to re-use as many cardboard boxes as possible. We collect boxes from GNC (General Nutrition Center®) and re-use their nice clean once used boxes a second time. We also re-use their clean
bubble wrap, packing paper, air-packet packing, Styrofoam peanuts, and anything else that was inbound to them with the shipments of their nutritional supplements. GNC would normally just place boxes and
packing material in their recycling bins; through us, they are given a second use before going in your recycling bin. Within the greater Sarasota, Florida, area, businesses do recycle all of these materials
by county law. We collect packing supplies only from a few GNC stores in that area.
We also gather clean once-used boxes from Dollar General stores too.
Most of our inbound boxes are re-used for outbound shipments.
We gather neighbors' newspapers to use for packing material.
Cardboard that we cannot use goes out to our street for weekly recycling collection.
Within our office and shipping & receiving areas, we have installed fluorescent lighting. It is much lower power
usage and in general the bulbs last longer than incandescent bulbs. The Hera SlimLites are primarily what we have installed in our work environment. In normal light sockets we have installed the now famous twisty type fluorescent bulbs.
Each week we set out our bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard for recycling.
We attempt to conserve water the best we can and strive never to just waste any.
We do not throw wood pallets into
landfills, we have landscaping that is geographically intelligent for our environment (there are over 40 clumping bamboo plants that we have planted in our yard). We have a compost area in our yard. Whatever
small or large difference we can make, we will aim to do so. As we receive answers from our manufacturers about what they do, we will post more information on this page. To start, we can say this: Hera Lighting offers fluorescent and LED lighting solutions which have longer life bulbs, lower heat output, and low energy consumption. Rock Solid acquires left over and scrap pieces of Corian, Gibraltar, Staron, Avonite, Formica and other solid surface materials. They use small pieces to make their knobs, pulls, switchplates and bath hardware. These would be pieces that would normally end up in dumpsters, and then landfills, and then be there for the next 500 years.
Turned In Stone makes granite knobs and pulls. They also have expanded their line to offer other granite hardware items. Granite comes from the Earth. It is a natural material. It does not contain glue or polymers and it can last indefinitely.
Omega-National offers "unfinished" wood products. Using natural materials in kitchen and bath construction and remodels is better than using synthetic materials abundantly. Obviously man made materials are used everywhere, but any time we can replace one with something natural, we did just do something good for the environment.
C&R Woodcrafters make real wood switchplates from vast species of wood, including bamboo plates. Bamboo is becoming a highly popular choice in construction for its positive environmental impact.
Rev-A-Shelf makes many kitchen slide out cabinet trash cans, many of which are multiple bin units to allow for recyclables.
